Christian Formation
Lectio Divina – “holy reading” will be offered on Wednesdays beginning January 4th,
2012 at 9:35 – 10:35 in the All Saint’s Office.

Lectio Divina invites us into contemplative prayer by way of meditation on a particular
biblical text.  When we engage in lectio divina, we come to the words of the Bible as if
they are words from a lover.  We come to the text seeking to make contact with God’s
love and presence, trusting God’s nearness and God’s desire to heal and transform us.

When we read, we have different modes of taking in information; we scan newspapers
for information, we study books to increase our knowledge and in reading novels we
become absorbed.  In lectio divina we come to the words of the Bible seeking to be with
God, as if it were a meeting place where we hope to spend some time with  the One who
loves us.

If you would like to experience this spiritual practice, please join us on any Wednesday!
The nature of lectio divina lends itself to finding a resting place in God in the midst of
hectic  schedules.

Youth Formation
Happy New Year from the ASEC Children and Youth!

It has been an exciting time for ASEC Children and Youth!
The Christmas Eve Pageant “The Jesse Tree” was a hit for those who attended and those
who participated. Many thanks to Jada Bryson and all who helped!

Epiphany Party and Wednesday Night Fun - Youth, Leaders and Parents celebrated the
season with an Epiphany Party on Wednesday January 4 in the St. Agnes Parish Hall.
Pizza, cake, music and games and a fun time were had by all! The party kicked off
Wednesday Youth Nights. Stay tuned for upcoming Wednesday Nights and other local
church and Diocesan activities. Contact Matt Moyer for more information.

Sunday School and the Season of Epiphany
The Sunday School focus now until mid-February will be the Season of Epiphany and
how Jesus’ work can be reflected in how we interact with our families, friends and
community.

To illustrate how God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit are with us each day the youth are
creating Prayer Boxes. The children are decorating boxes and have begun collecting
meditations, prayers and other meaningful items in their boxes to reflect upon. For
example on the first Sunday, early-church parishioners were asked to write prayer
requests on index cards that were then distributed to the youth to pray about and  keep
in their Prayer Box. This activity will be ongoing throughout the season. Special thanks
to Janet and Steve Sweimler for donating the cigar boxes and materials for  this project.

Children and Youth Sunday School meets each Sunday morning at 9:10 am in the St.
Agnes Youth Room on the 1st and 3rd Sundays and in the Undercroft at St Cyprian’s on
the 2nd and 4th Sundays. Friends and Grandchildren are always invited to come! For
more information, please contact Dawn Armfield or Mother Dorrie.

Thank you for your continued support of the Children and Youth of the All Saints
Episcopal Community!
